CONGRESSMAN GRAY CELEBRATES $93 MILLION FOR DOS PALOS WATER STORAGE AND WILDLIFE PROTECTION PROJECT

DOS PALOS, CA – The Bureau of Reclamation has announced they will award $93 million to the Arroyo Canal Fish Screen and Sack Dam Fish Bypass Project near Dos Palos. The construction contract will further Bureau efforts to secure water access for Central Valley users and improve fish passage in the region.
“This contract is another huge win for the Valley,” said Congressman Gray. “Our community knows that we don’t need to compromise reliable water access for wildlife protection, and vice versa. State and federal partnerships like this are critical to continued economic growth and wellbeing for Valley families.”
The $93 million contract for Sack Dam and Arroyo Canal construction follows a $255 million award for the B.F. Sisk Safety of Dams Modification Project in Los Banos, also located in Congressman Gray’s Central Valley district. Read more about that project here.
“I remain committed to advocating for Valley water at every opportunity here in Washington. The significant investments we’ve already secured this year are just the beginning.”
According to the Bureau of Reclamation, improvements to the Arroyo Canal Fish Screen and Sack Dam Fish Bypass Project will improve fish passage as required under the 2006 San Joaquin River Restoration Settlement and the 2009 San Joaquin River Restoration Settlement Act. Construction on the project is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2025 and will take approximately three years to complete.
