WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Adam Gray (D-Merced) and Congresswoman Young Kim (R-Orange County) today introduced the Wildfire Response and Preparedness (WRAP) Act to establish a national 30-minute standard response time to wildfire emergencies on federal lands. If enacted, the bill would aid national fire suppression efforts by implementing a rapid response standard to quickly engage fire conditions as they emerge.

MERCED, CA – Congressman Adam Gray (D-Merced) today announced the winners of his 2025 Congressional Art Competition. Each year, the Art Competition is an opportunity for high school students to submit original art pieces to their congressional representatives. The winning pieces are hung in the US Capitol following decision by a panel of judges in each congressional district. Winning artists also receive a trip to Washington, DC, where they are recognized at an awards ceremony.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Adam Gray (D-Merced) introduced a bill today that would ensure Central Valley farmers and producers receive reliable water deliveries to support their operations. The Valley Water Protection Act would amend the Endangered Species Act (ESA) to protect impacted farmers from national security threats or regional economic harm related to ESA listing enforcement activity. Congressman Jim Costa (D-Fresno) joined Congressman Gray to co-lead the bill.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Adam Gray (D-Merced) today introduced the Stop Troubling Retroactive Invoices for Veteran Expenses (STRIVE) Act of 2025 to limit copay costs for veterans seeking care at VA facilities. Under current law, veterans must navigate a series of bureaucratic hurdles to obtain waivers for copay debts accrued as a result of errors internal to the VA. The STRIVE Act would allow the VA to grant waivers to large groups of veterans who may be saddled with copay debt through no fault of their own.

WASHINGTON, DC – This week, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that it will be awarding a $5.3 million grant to the Community Action Partnership of Madera County. The grant will support Head Start and Early Head Start programming through Community Action Partnership, which serves Madera and Fresno Counties. Congressman Gray issued the following statement after the grant was announced.

MERCED, CA – This week, the Bureau of Reclamation announced a $255 million contract awarded for Phase 2 of the B.F. Sisk Safety of Dams Modification Project in Los Banos. Once completed, the project will reinforce the dam’s stability infrastructure, raise the crest of the dam, and alleviate downstream public safety concerns.
