WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Adam Gray (D-Merced) today cosponsored the bipartisan Trade Review Act of 2025. Companion legislation to the version introduced in the Senate earlier this month by Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA), the bill would limit the president’s ability to unilaterally impose tariffs without congressional approval.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Adam Gray (D-Merced) today spoke in favor of his amendment to the proposed budget resolution that would protect Medicaid from devastating cuts. The amendment would have prevented consideration of any legislation that would result in cuts to Medicaid in order to provide tax breaks to individuals with a net worth of one billion dollars or more. Congressman Gray’s amendment to the budget resolution was offered to the Rules Committee, but was voted down.

WASHINGTON, DC – The University of California, Merced has just been named an R1 research institution, the most prestigious designation from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Of nearly 4,000 doctoral-granting universities in the nation, only 187 have been awarded R1 status for superior research and doctorate programs. UC Merced joins this exclusive group after just 20 years of operation and is the only R1 institution in California’s Central Valley.

Congressman Gray will sit on the Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittees on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry, Commodity Markets, Digital Assets, and Rural Development, and Forestry and Horticulture, and the Natural Resources Committee’s Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries.

While a member of these committees, Congressman Gray will represent the nation's largest agricultural valley as Congress drafts legislation related to irrigation, water storage, food production and issues impacting farmers and ranchers.
